WHAT CAN I WRITE FOR YOU?
Writing Specialties
Energy
Among marketing and public relations freelancers, I’m the most experienced energy writer in the United States (maybe the world). More than 160 energy companies—upstream, midstream, and downstream—have sent me multiple projects over the years.
My 1000+ writing projects in this major sector include marketing campaigns, websites, annual reports, video scripts, print materials of all varieties, articles in business/corporate/trade publications, advertising, speeches, news releases, PR and more.
FINANCE
I not only have written about African economies (Cameroon, DRC, Nigeria) for Forbes magazine, but also recently edited the 700-page desk reference, “Petroleum Accounting: Principles, Procedures and Issues,” for PwC.
I have written for more than 50 companies in finance, addressing everything from investments to insurance to state-tax consulting.
Health care
Houston, where I live and work, is the epicenter of modern medicine: home to the world’s largest medical center. Health care writing is especially meaningful to me, helping people in all walks of life face injury and illness.
My experience extends back to MD Anderson Cancer Center’s introduction of its brilliant tagline, “Making Cancer History.” I wrote a very successful development brochure that featured MD Anderson’s top researchers, using “Making Cancer History” as its headline. I later wrote for its “Cancer Moon Shot” program and, recently, wrote the first annual report for its Department of Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine.
REAL ESTATE
This category includes not only real estate, but also my work for construction, architecture and mortgage companies.
My major clients include Geometrica, Wolff Gates Ranch, Cinco Ranch, Friendswood Development, Transwestern Investment Group and Vanguard Capital Group.
TECHNOLOGY
When writing about technology, I ask enough questions so I can clearly communicate my client’s message to a nontechnical audience. When my clients call me a technical writer, I no longer protest that I don’t have a technical background. In fact, that seems to be a plus.
I work to make concepts clear with copy, whether I am writing about computers (Texas Instruments), software (BMC), telecommunication systems (Northern Telecom) or big data (PROS).
CONSUMER
In addition to writing for consumers about energy, health care, technology, finance and real estate, I have written multiple ad campaigns, brochures, video scripts, etc., for brand-name foods, luxury goods and fine art, personal computers, hotels, major museums, automobiles, restaurants, travel agencies, funeral homes and more.
Some of my well-known consumer clients have included Coca-Cola Foods, Compaq Computers, United Airlines, Better Homes and Gardens, Uncle Ben’s Rice, Subway Sandwiches, Texas A&M University, Knight-Ridder New Media, The Living Bank, University of Houston, Houston Independent School District and City of Houston.
About
Denise Allen Zwicker, writer
I’ll make your concepts clear with copy, whether you’re communicating with businesses or consumers.
I’ve won more than 100 local, regional, national, and international awards for my writing. I have never missed a deadline, and my clients often make positive comments about my work and attitude.
Marketing and public relations writing is my favorite category because I enjoy connecting people with the products and services they need.
Some of my clients call me a technical writer. I’m no engineer, but I can translate difficult concepts into plain English—to suit your audience’s technical level. I’m also good at writing for the ear—in scripts and speeches.
Through my large network, I can connect you with some of Houston’s best graphic designers, video producers, photographers, PR professionals, and branding experts.
I’ve written for hundreds of businesses—ranging from the world’s largest to some of the smallest. Chances are I’ve written something similar to what you’re looking for.
Ask me for a sample, a reference, or an estimate. I’ll get right back to you.
